Categories help sort a page into a topic to help people find them. Without categories, a page is considered to be an orphan. Help out and add categories to a page, but do not name the category/align a category's topic to be the following: an inappropriate or rude name, a 'fake category' (the category goes by a name which is considered unhelpful or inappropriate, containing stacks of pages affected), categories whose names reveal personal information [doxxing], (for example, credit cards, phone numbers or addresses), or anything against site rules or Fandom's Terms of Use.
To add a category to a page:
- Go to the page you want to categorize.
- Click on the collapsible section "Categories". This will bring up the categories the page is under.
- Click on the button next to all the categories that says "Add Categories" (all caps).
- NOTE: If a page is protected, the button will not be visible and you can't add a category.
- Type in the category name. There will also be a white popup containing available categories that match the query you're typing in.
- For computer keyboards, click Enter or Return on MacBooks. For mobile devices on the virtual keyboard, click the arrow button, enter, or type in a comma or semicolon.
- This will contain the category name within an oval with a X button next to it, which removes the category.
Et voila! You just added a category to a page! If this is your first time on the wiki, you will earn the badge "Make a Connection" followed by "Trail Blazer" if you add five more categories to pages.
