Patton Oswalt is an American actor, voice artist, comedian, and writer.
In live-action, he is best known for his work as Spencer Olchin in The King of Queens, the Koenigs in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., TV's Son of TV's Frank in the revival seasons of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and his work in stand-up comedy.
His debut as a voice artist began with Remy, the lead role in Disney-Pixar's Ratatouille, after director Brad Bird saw him in a food-related comedy routine. His role earned him a nomination for Best Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production. Afterwards, he decided to make a new career in voice-acting, reaching a whole new audience, including giving his daughter access to something she can watch that involved her father. In 2019, he voiced the role of Max the Jack Russell Terrier in The Secret Life of Pets 2, replacing ]]Louis C.K. from the previous film. He also became a regular voice actor in the video game Minecraft: Story Mode, where he played Jesse, the male protagonist a player can choose to play.
WordGirl was the second project Oswalt took in voice acting before making his guest appearances. He was a regular cast member, voicing evil robot-making boy Tobey McCallister III, where he gives his character an English accent to replace his American accent. He also voices various robots that Tobey makes. In the episode "WordGirl vs. Tobey vs. The Dentist", he voices candy maker Zachary Zany, replacing his original voice actor Matt Besser.
A notable thing about Oswalt among other things concerning the cast is that he is an atheist. He has spoken about his lack of beliefs in religion in several of his stand-ups, even swearing a lot, which can make someone see a completely different side of talent to him compared to his voiceover career.
