Birthday Town is episode 3b of Season 3 of WordGirl.

Summary[]

When Mr. Big opens up "Mr. Big's Birthday Time All the Time Party Store", he uses mind control on all of the parents to make them think every day is their child’s birthday, mimicking the Birthday Girl, so they will be constantly buying gifts from him. But things get too much for Mr. Big when he accidentally makes Elieen turn into the Birthday Girl once again.

Plot[]

Mr. Big has opened up a birthday supply store to make some more money. His biggest customer is none other than Eileen a.k.a. The Birthday Girl. The Mayor is concerned about spending lots of the money on the party supplies but because Eileen causes thousands of dollars worth of damage when she becomes Birthday Girl, he agrees to pay for it. Mr. Big gets an idea to get the citizens to buy more party supplies if all the kids think every day is their birthday like Eileen. Leslie however points out that none of the other kids get big when they are angry, so Mr. Big decides to come up with an alternative.

At the Botsford House, Tim is watching the news with Becky and T.J. boredly watching their Dad. T.J questions why adults even watch the news and Tim explains that the news is so adults know what's going on in the world. Suddenly there is a commercial with lots of lights and effects, it is a commercial for Mr. Big's party supply store. After watching the commercial, Tim Botsford, is now under mind control and takes them to the store. Becky does try to point out it's not their birthdays but T.J. is too excited and tells Becky to go with it despite her protests. At the store mind-controlled parents are shopping with their children. Becky realizes that this is all a Mr. Big plan and is not pleased about this, T.J. tries to insist that Becky not blow this and Tim even gives her a sparkling Pretty Princess and Magic Pony figurine. Becky soon decides that maybe having a birthday everyday won't be such a bad idea.

At first all the kids in town enjoyed having a birthday everyday as they had lots of fun but it wasn't long before the celebrations became too much for the kids, especially since it happened everyday. Soon the Botsford home is flooded with presents which Becky believes is really getting out of hand, even T.J. is fed up with all the celebrations. Becky and Bob transform into the super heroes and go to see Mr. Big. At the store, there is a commotion of parents fighting over the party supplies left with the kids looking sad and embarrassed. When WordGirl arrives, she says she wants to see Mr. Big, who says he couldn't hear her over the noise, neither can Leslie. WordGirl demands that Mr. Big stop the mind control but he stops her by having all the parents throw cakes at WordGirl. Suddenly Eileen has come to the store as it is her birthday (or so she claims) but becomes angry that the shelves are empty, Mr. Big states that lots of kids are celebrating their birthdays but she becomes big and wrecks the store. Mr. Big tries to offer her whatever she wants but she says there's nothing in the store. He begs WordGirl to help him, she tells him to hand over the mind control hat which he obliges. After that all the grown ups question why they are buying party supplies for their children, one adult even states he has no kids of his own. TJ and many other kids ask WordGirl why it felt great having a birthday everyday but then it got boring. WordGirl says that birthdays aren't about the presents or cake but instead it's supposed to be that one day of the year when you feel special, this is why it's better to only have it once a year. One little girl tells WordGirl that today actually is her birthday, feeling bad about the day WordGirl and the other kids gladly wish her a Happy Birthday. Eileen is furious after hearing this, but WordGirl calmly explains to Eileen that it feels great to have someone say "Happy Birthday" to her. Eileen agrees and WordGirl tells her to wish the little girl a "Happy Birthday," she does and shrinks back to normal while Mr. Big falls into a cake and everyone laughs.
