Summary[]
Not only are Vanilly and Billy a pair of outer space rock ‘n roll ninjas, they’re the stars of the most popular TV show at Becky’s school, and anybody who is anybody has tickets to their concert. Thanks to Mr. Botsford, Becky has tickets, too – to The Squishy Funbots Rollerama. At the concert, Becky, embarrassed, tries her hardest not to be seen, but when Dr. Two-Brains crashes the Funbots concert, WordGirl must come out of hiding. Can WordGirl stop Two-Brains in his cheesy tracks? And will Becky ever admit that she likes Squishy Funbots, even a little bit?
Plot[]
Becky is watching a show called Vanilli and Billy a duo of rock and royal ninjas who are secretly and prince and princess. Everyone at Becky's school loves them and Becky says that if you force yourself to watch it, the music grows on you. Bob on the other hand doesn't like it and tells her it's bad but Becky disagrees. She does admit that the songs lack of few qualities but has heard they sound better live and they should get tickets. Suddenly Tim Botsford comes in with camping gear, explaining he was downtown getting tickets for an upcoming concert which there are three happening: a cheese auction, a Vanilli and Billy concert and the Squishy Funbots Rollerama. Becky thinks that he got Vanilli and Billy tickets but it was Squishy Funbot tickets which TJ is excited about. Becky however is annoyed and distraught because the Funbots are for little kids. Tim does remind her that she and her brother loved them when they were babies and T.J. tells her you can't outgrow fun.
While walking down the street, Becky hums a Funbot song which she admits helped her feel better when she was little but stops when she sees some kids from school passing. She eventually runs into Scoops, as it turns out he got an interview with Vanilli from Vanilli and Billy. He tells her that their concert is sold out so Becky better have a ticket. Not wanting to admit that she doesn't have a Vanilli and Billy ticket but a ticket to the Squishy Funbots Concert, she simply tells Scoops she has a concert ticket.
On the night of the concert, everyone is lined up outside, when T.J. points out several of Becky's classmates are across the street for Vanilli and Billy, Becky covers her face with a Funbot trashcan lid which attracts lots of little kids. Inside the theatre, Becky is too embarrassed to smile for a picture at the concert and while Tim and T.J. question this Becky says with embarrassment she is looking forward to the show as she used to love the Funbots but T.J. points out that she means 'still loves the Funbots, Becky forcefully says yes. Becky looks around to make sure no one she knows is there, she does notice someone with a beard who looks an awful lot like Scoops. Meanwhile backstage Dr. Two-Brains and his henchmen are planning to steal the ticket money so they can bet on all the cheese at the Cheese Auction. While his henchman points out they could just steal the cheese from the auction instead but Two-Brains states that things aren't that simple. The henchmen are thrilled that they are at the Funbot concert but Two-Brains just wants to find the ticket money and leave. Seconds after making that remark they find the ticket money which is just lying around in bags, Two-Brains questions this but becomes astonished when they learn it's light as a feather. Before they can leave, a Funbot pushes Two-Brains onstage, the henchmen get excited and head onstage to help put on the show.
The show begins and while nervous at first, the three put on a great opening number with the Funbots. Becky and Bob leave to find out what's going on, although Bob is enjoying the show. While backstage, the henchmen compliment Two-Brains performance, WordGirl shows up and states they'll be putting on shows in jail. Two-Brains questions how she knew he was here, she states she was not in the audience but he suddenly questions her watching the show, she accidentally admits she likes the Funbots and starts defending them. This leads to Two-Brains to make fun of WordGirl for liking a little kids show but the henchmen say they like the Funbots as well. Two-Brains starts to wish he robbed the concert across the street, when he gets their names wrong, WordGirl tells him, "It's called Vanilli and Billy," Two-Brains says their music is just awful, while not wanting to admit it at first, WordGirl agrees with him. They battle, which leads to Huggy covering Two-Brain's eyes and leading him onstage where the Funbots squish him, causing him to get scared, he begs WordGirl to save him which she obliges and takes them to jail.
After turning back into Becky, she and Bob head back to their seats. T.J. tells her about the battle and while Becky says that WordGirl is trying to like Vanilli and Billi, Becky also admits she likes the Squishy Funbots. Someone in the audience asks if he could make note of that, it turns out Scoops was at the concert and was wearing a beard. Scoops reveals that his interview with Vanilli got cancelled, he also admits he doesn't really like their music and loves the Funbots. The five of them, and the audience members all join in a Funbots sing along and have a great time.
